St Clair Fire / Rescue

In an effort to better serve the community, the Fire Department purchased Rapid Intervention Fire / Rescue boats. 

On behalf of the St Clair Fire Department and the Water / Rescue Boat committee, we would like to express our extreme gratitude for all your efforts in the raising of funds for our new rescue boat.

     From its (A Water Rescue / Marine Fire Boat) inception last year (2001), the community and local businesses have been behind us 100% and we thank them.

     Last year the Fire Department was involved in numerous water rescue incidents. We felt that we were lacking in our ability to provide a full service to the community. A committee was formed to investigate the possibilities of purchasing the appropriate equipment and developing an additional responsibility to our Fire Service. The committee decided that it was a need that would greatly benefit the community, with the vast waterway system that we have in our jurisdiction and the volume of boating traffic we have the need was easy to justify.

     We have raised approximately $12,500 from community fundraisers and donations from area residents. The additional funds were matched by the Foundations. At this time we have reached our goal and are stopping our fund raising campaign.

     Due to the varying waterway system the Fire Department is responsible for, the committee decided that one boat would not meet our needs. Two boats were needed, one small boat for small waterways and one larger for the larger waterways. We have purchased and have in operation a 14’1” Mercury inflatable boat for use in our smaller waterways, a 20’ Triton Enforcer series boat has been ordered for the big water and should be in operation by mid summer.
